Certified Nurses Aides
Our certified Nurses Aides provide personal care (bathing, grooming, feeding), based on each individual's personal needs. These specially trained Hospice Nurses Aides are skilled in working with patients who have debilitating, life-limiting illnesses. They deliver care with the utmost respect and compassion. Continuous Care
If Hospice of Illinois determines that a patient's condition warrants continuous care (usually when death is imminent), we will arrange for 24 hour care to ensure that the patient is as comfortable as possible and is not alone. We will provide support to the family and ensure that if death occurs, it will be pain free, dignified and as peaceful as possible. This is a part of our routine hospice care and does not incur any additional charges.
In-Patient Care
On rare occasions a Hospice patient may require short-term in-patient care if the symptoms of their illness cannot be adequately controlled at home. Hospitalizing the patient is not a sign of aggressive treatment for their illness, but rather a way to control any symptoms that are not responding to management at home.
Music Therapy
Our music therapist works one on one with patients providing them with a live musical presentation. Music therapy implements a holistic approach to care that speaks to the well part of each person. Music therapy can be effective in reducing stress, anxiety and even pain.
Massage Therapy
Our Massage Therapist provides soothing therapeutic touch massage that can significantly reduce pain, stress and anxiety. Physical, Occupational, Speech Therapies
Hospice care is not restorative care, but rather care focused on comfort and quality of life. These therapies are available to Hospice patients and may be utilized in certain situations where they would assist in the overall comfort and safety of our patients.
Social Services/Grief Support and Bereavement Counseling
These programs are available to all patients, families and caregivers. Our social worker will utilize community resources to assist patients and their loved ones as they deal with the stress and emotional issues that often accompany a debilitating illness. Helping secure homemaker services, delivered meals and bedside religious services are just some of the things we can provide. Our social worker can also assist you with financial concerns in making arrangements for a funeral or memorial service. Our relationships with our Hospice families do not end when your loved one dies. We continue to be a resource providing spiritual and emotional support long after the death of your loved one. Volunteer Program
These dedicated and compassionate individuals have been the cornerstone of Hospice care since its inception. They provide companionship and support to patients, their families and caregivers. Volunteers are available to spend time with patients and offer brief periods of respite for the family. Hospice of Illinois volunteers can brighten the day for a patient who might enjoy conversation, being read to, watching television together or other activities.
